India: Forest officials arrested three men for straying into the reserved forest area near Varushanadu in Theni district on Friday.
They also seized a country-made rifle, torch lights and sharp weapons from them.
The accused have been identified as Thirupathi from Tirupur district, Pandiarajan from Aranmanaipudur and Suresh from Varushanadu.
According to the officials, a forest team found the trio roaming in the Manjanoothu South forest beat near Varushanadu forest.
On seeing the forest team, they tried to escape from the spot, but were chased down and arrested.
Apart from the rifle, sickles and machetes were also seized from them.
Inquiries revealed that they entered the forest for poaching.
A forest officer said that the trio had been involved in poaching in the past.
