India: Four persons who had entered Kumudvathi forest near Mugudthi village in Shettyhalli wildlife sanctuary limits, allegedly for hunting, were arrested by Forest Department personnel in the early hours of Wednesday.
The accused are Raghavendra, Vasanth, Thammaiah, and Manjappa, residents of Bidarahalli village near Mugudthi. Two unlicensed country-made rifles were seized from them. They have been charged with entering the forest illegally.
Acting on a tip-off, the forest personnel raided the camp the four men had set up for hunting. A case under the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 has been booked.
