Man Arrested From Assam For Poaching Two Rhinos In Gorumara

India: In connection to the poaching of two rhinoceros in Gorumara, a Manipuri man named Muyang alias Ling Ding Muyang, has been arrested from Assam. The accused is known for being a smuggler and a hunter.

On March 14, a car crash had taken place in Guwahati in which the lone survivor was found to be possessing a rhino horn. On interrogating the man about the horn, the police got to know that he and his accomplices had been hunting rhinos at the Gorumara National Park.

The Assam Forest Department alerted their Bengal counterparts. Following this,  the forest workers had recovered the rotting corpses of two rhinos from the Gadati area of Gorumara after one month on April 19 and April 20.

The accused, Muyang, is now being brought to the Jalpaiguri Court by the Assam Police on transit remand. Sources share that the CID has asked the court to keep him on 14 days of remand, which has been granted to them.
