Man held for smuggling leopard skin

India   A mobile shop owner has been apprehended for allegedly smuggling leopard skins in the district.

Pithoragarh Special Operation Group (SOG) arrested accused Hemant Aagri on Friday night with two leopard skins.

With the recovery of the two skins, Pithoragarh police claimed to have seized seven leopard skins this year.

Acting on a tip off, SOG nabbed him from Raiagar-Katmaniya area under Berinag police station with two bags. "When we opened the bag, we found two leopard skins. One was eight-feet-long and the other was seven-feet-long. The age of the leopards is between six to ten years," said Pithoragarh SP Ajay Joshi.
