The South Asia Wildlife Enforcement Network (SAWEN) is pleased to announce the signing of two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) that mark an important step forward in fostering long-term collaboration for biodiversity conservation in the South Asian region.
On 03 January 2025, SAWEN signed an MoU with the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI). Prior to that, on 08 November 2024, SAWEN formalized another key partnership through an MoU with the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), Nepal.
The primary purpose of both MoUs is to strengthen institutional cooperation and develop a long-term working relationship in areas of shared interest and priority. These partnerships are expected to open up new avenues of engagement and reinforce SAWEN’s regional mission to curb illegal wildlife trade and conserve biodiversity.
Key areas of cooperation include:
- Biodiversity conservation and threat reduction
- Collaborative proposal development
- Joint organization of events, outreach, and engagements
- In-kind and financial support to enhance conservation efforts
These MoUs reflect SAWEN's growing institutional footprint and commitment to building meaningful partnerships for a more coordinated and effective response to wildlife crime and biodiversity threats in South Asia.
