CISF seizes red sandalwood at IGI Airport, 2 held

India: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Saturday held two people at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport for smuggling 43 kilogram of red sandalwood. The two passengers, Vishal and Ankit Kumar, were supposed to travel in a Hong Kong bound Air India flight.

They were held after the CISF surveillance and intelligence personnel of the IGI Airport selected them for a thorough checking in the check-in area of Terminal-3.

They were diverted to a random checking point for thorough checking of their luggage. The CISF found some bundles of red sandalwood weighing approx 43 kg inside their bags during the physical checking of their baggage.

On being interrogated, the passengers could not produce any documents for carrying the red sandalwood.

Later, both the passengers along with the recovered red sandalwood were handed over to the customs officials for further legal action.
