The Civil Guard has seized 123 exotic animals victims of smuggling in Peñíscola, Spain. After an inspection, 20 birds were found dead inside a freezer and the other animals were seized for lack of legal documentation according to the CITES agreement and were sent to a recovery center for birds of prey. The animals rescued included harris eagles, royal owls, hawks, Nepal eagles, African owls and European lynx, among others. The owner of the birds, 67-year-old man, was arrested for smuggling protected species and for the falsification of documents and certificates. (Source : DAN)
