2 held for poaching pregnant Deer

India: Police have arrested two persons on the charges of poaching a pregnant deer and seized its meat from their residence at Nargaon village, here.

According to police, the alleged accused was identified as Shaikh Asif Shaikh Chand (22) and his brother Shaikh Sajid (20), both residents of Naregaon village.

Asif, an rickshaw-driver, carried an injured deer in his auto, in the wee hours of Friday.

A special police officer, who witnessed him transporting the deer, passed the information to the concerned MIDC Cidco police station.

Acting on a tip-off, a police squad headed by PI Surendra Mahale, raided the accused house and found the deer cut into pieces for selling its meat and skin.

A Police team seized the meat and arrested the duo. Police registered a case under relevant Sections of the Wildlife Protection Act and IPC.

Aurangabad City Police Commissioner Yashasvi Yadav directed the MIDC Cidco police to take stringent action against the poachers.
