2 leopard skins seized, 2 poachers arrested

India: The Special Task Force of Uttarakhand police arrested two poachers and seized two leopard skins from their possession in Rishikesh area on Friday. Both the leopard skins are over 9 feet in length and worth Rs 12 lakh in the international market. Getting the information, an STF team led by Sub Inspector Santosh Shah intercepted a car in Rishikesh area. The unit members had inputs that a gang that smuggled leopard skins and sold them at high rates in other states was on way to Dehradun from Chamoli district.

As per the release issued by the STF, the two were carrying the leopard skin in a car. The two were identified as Padam Singh Bisht, a resident of Gairsan in Chamoli district and Girish Nautiyal, who is from Dharasu in Uttarkashi district. The cops are questioning the duo about their contacts and the clients to whom they were going to supply the leopard skins.
