2,000 parakeets rescued, three held

India:Three persons, two natives of Pilibhit district and one from Uttarakhand, were arrested on Tuesday midnight by a team led by DFO, North Kheri, Anil Patel with more than 2,000 parakeets.

Forest officials said the trio was involved in interstate poaching and smuggling of birds, especially of different types of parakeets. Officials said the poachers had caught rose-headed parakeets in Nepal, while other birds were caught from Dudhwa and Pilibhit tiger reserves. The accused were sent to jail on Wednesday.
