Bird traps seized in Thoubal

India: Kakching Forest Range Officer along with the staff members and volunteers of JFMC Tekcham-Tentha seized thirty bird traps in and around Tekcham-Tentha. Appealing to the public to conserve wildlife, Kakching Forest Range Officer N Munal Singh asserted that any cruel act to wildlife including holding them in captivity, killing, selling or exhibition are prohibited under Section 39 of the Indian Wildlife Protection Act 1972. Several migratory birds take shelter in lakes located in and around Tekcham and Tentha.  After being reported about poaching activities in the area, N Munal Singh along with the staff members and JFMC Tekcham-Tentha volunteers inspected the areas and seized all the bird traps found there.
