India: Foresters of Saoli range busted yet another case of spotted deer poaching following a tip-off given by Wildlife Protection Society of India (WPSI) on Sunday.
Raids were conducted in Kondekhal and Keroda villages, both in Saoli tehsil, and an accused was arrested, while other managed to flee.
VC Dhurve along with local forest guard Choudhri, WPSI activist Umesh Zire and Tanmany Zire raided the residence of Maroti Thunekar in the morning. They seized cooked meat of spotted deer from Thunekar’s residence and arrested him. Thunekar during interrogation informed that one Arun Porote from Keroda had provided him deer meet. Accordingly, raid was conducted on the house of Porote. The accused Porote, however, managed to flee from the spot. The foresters have recovered cooked meat of deer from his house.
Offence under relevant sections of Wildlife Protection Act has been registered against the accused duo.
