Four held with leopard hide
KATHMANDU-Nepal : A police team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police on Monday nabbed four persons in possession of leopard hides.
Police said today that Ram Bahadur Tamang (28) of Machhegaun-2, Kavrepalanchok; Keshav Narayan Shrestha (42) of Sankhu-6, Kathmandu; Arjun Magar (32) of Gaushara-5, Ramechhap and Sulabh Ghising (26) of Majhuwa-7, Ramechhap were arrested from the Lakhatirtha Temple in KMC-15 today.
They were all currently residing in KMC-15. Police also seized a six feet long and one feet, four inch wide skin of the endangered wild animal from them. Police handed the arrestees to the District Forest Office, Hattisar for further action.
The National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1973 and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES Convention), 1975 prohibit trade of leopard hide and other body parts.
