Bangladesh:  Forest department and Rapid Action Battalion on Saturday evening seized 11 pieces hides of barking deer and arrested two poachers from Kadamtali in the city.

The detainees are identified as Mostaq Ahmed and Mohammad Moniruzzaman.

Wildlife inspector Ashim Mallick of the Wildlife Crime Control Unit told New Age that after tipped-off the forest department’s team along with RAB-10 conducted a mobile court raid at Mohammadbagh Chourasta and seized the hides.

Ashim said Moniruzzaman stole barking deers, a rear species from the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

RAB magistrate Sarwar Alam handed Moniruzzaman one year jail and fined Mostaq Tk 50,000.
