Man held with leopard skin in Pithoragarh

India: Police have arrested one person with a leopard skin in Ghat, 30 km from Pithoragarh town. Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Special Operations Group and the forest department stopped a person at Ghat on Wednesday and found a leopard skin in his bag, said Ram Chandra Rajguru, superintendent of police, Pithoragarh.

The man has been identified as Keshav Ram, a resident of Digtoli village in Pithoragarh. The leopard skin is 8-feet-long and the animal is estimated to have been 5 years old. The accused said that he was given a package and asked to deliver it to Tankapur.

He has been booked under relevant sections of the Wildlife Conservation Act.
