MAN NABBED WITH TIGER SKIN

India: The Kothrud police on Friday arrested a 38-year-old man and seized a tiger skin from him before he could sell it. The accused has been identified as Sandip Baban Shelke, a resident of Shivsai Nagar. He has been booked under provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act and the Arms Act.

The Kothrud police had gone for an inquiry into a non-cognisable offence registered against Shelke, when they found the tiger skin. Police also unearthed a sharp weapon during the search.

Senior police inspector Raghunath Phuge of Kothrud police station told Mirror, “We had received a complaint about the accused in which we registered a non-cognisable offence. Our team had gone to his residence to conduct an inquiry and we found the tiger skin there. We have arrested him and seized the skin.”

The accused was produced before the court on Friday. To investigate whom he was going to sell the skin to and from whom he bought it, the police demanded seven days of custody, of which three days were granted.
