One killed in tusker attack

SARLAHI, JUN 30 - A woman was killed in an attack of a wild elephant at Lalbandi-7 in the district on Friday evening. Another woman, Naindevi Raya of Hempur, is also believed to have been injured in the separate attack of the same tusker in the district on Saturday morning. Dhanmaya Yonjan died when the wild elephant attacked her in a forest near her house in Lalbandi. Yonjan died on the spot, police said. Locals said the tusker headed southwards after the incident. Similarly, Raya sustained serious head injuries when a wild tusker attacked her near her residence at Hempur-5. Birendra Thakur, a local resident, said Raya sustained serious head injuries in the attack. She is undergoing treatment at a Birgunj-based hospital, police said.
