Nepal: Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police run an operation under 'Operation Thunderbird' from January to February 2017 and arrested 18 suspects, seized wildlife products and rescued live animals from different parts of Nepal. The operation was initiated under the aegis of the International Consortium on Combating Wildlife Crime (ICCWC) to counter illegal harvest, illegal trade and transnational wildlife and forestry crime.
The seized items include skins of leopard-1, red panda-4, crocodile, pangolin-1 and ottter-1; rhino horn-1; bear bile-1; pangolin scale-780 gm and live birds-231. Among the 18 suspects two are female who are involved in red panda skin and live birds.
Majority of the seizure was from the Kathmandu district.
