India: The Rampura (City) police have arrested a person for allegedly killing National Bird peacock at Phul town. The post-mortem of peacock was conducted and it was handed over to officials of the Forest Department. A case under Section 428 of the IPC and Sections 9, 39, 40, 50 and 51 of the Wild Life Protection Act 1972 on the complaint of Sukhwinder Singh, Forest Range Officer, Rampura Phul, against Sohan Singh, a resident Rampura. According to the complaint, Sohan Singh trapped a peacock in a net and in attempt to escape, the bird died.
