India: Kaziranga forest officials on Saturday arrested a poacher, Jabidur Rahman alias Bhujel, who has three rhino poaching cases against him.
The poacher was arrested from Niz Biswanath under Biswanath Chariali police station in the sixth addition of Kaziranga early in the morning.
He was arrested from his house in a joint operation by northern range forest officials and Biswanath police.
Rahman was involved in three rhino poaching cases in the national park and one arms case.
Range officer Pranjal Baruah told The Telegraph that Jabidur was involved in the killing of a rhino in Bagori range. He has been hiding since, changing his locations constantly with different identities. The poacher has confessed to have sold a rhino horn at Dimapur in Nagaland after poaching the rhino in Kaziranga.
Baruah said sufficient measures have been taken and constant monitoring is being carried out in the area with the help of security forces.
