Producing the accused before media persons, Commissioner of Police Vikramjeet Duggal explained the modus operandi of the gang.
Based on reliable information, Godavarikhani one town CI A Mahender and Sulthanabad SI Rajesh reached Godavarikhani bus stand at around 12:30 pm.
They found six persons moving under suspicious circumstances with two bags. On interrogation, they revealed that they were going to Chandrapur to sell leopard skins.
The accused, a majority of them from East Godavari district of AP, took the train to reach Chandrapur and got down at Ramagundam railway station after spotting railway police.
Then, they decided to take a bus in Godavarikhani and reached the bus stand.
A resident of Gorli, Chhattisgarh, Padiyam Lasmaiah, had given two leopard skins to A2 Madakam Chandraiah (30), a resident of Thatlanka, Chinthur mandal of East Godavari district.
Chandraiah along with five others lefy for Chandrapur. The arrested were identified as Sodi Bhumaiah (30) from Ramachandrapuram of East Godavari, Svayam Rama Rao (25), Salvam Ramu (25) from Chirumuru of Chintur mandal, Chindam Jampaiah (42) from Palakoya thanda of Polavarm manda and Kontu Raghu Kumar (40), a native of Medarabasi of Kothagudem
