Pakistan: I often think that a country where there is no sanctity of human life and no respect for humanity, who will initiate efforts to stop the killing of wildlife. There is none to admonish the sinner, there is none to punish the killer in this country. The way various species of animals are being killed in different parts of KPK and Punjab, one’s heart bleeds. It is noticed that our flawed policies continue to contribute to the illegal trade of wildlife. A host of drastic measures are needed to discourage this ruthless killing of wildlife in this country. In this connection, it is suggested that religious scholars may be approached to educate and sensitise the people that ruthless killing of wildlife animals and birds, as some sort of sport is a heinous crime. Second, the local gullible and poverty-stricken people may be motivated not to cooperate with the criminals and killers, most of them happen to be very powerful people in the locality. Third, the world bodies such as the UNDP, USAID, JICA, GIZ, among others, should preferentially give foreign aid to those countries that have demonstrated a commitment to protecting wildlife. Above all, The Worldwide Fund (WWF) in collaboration with international partners may establish a task force on wildlife crime to impart training and technical assistance to combat poaching in Pakistan and such like other countries where crime against wildlife is not considered a crime in the earnest sense
