Rhino poacher nabbed from Orang national park

Guwahati, India: A joint team of forest guards and Darrang police apprehended a rhino poacher on Friday night from the Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve, foiling his poaching attempt at the national park. Director of the national park told, "Based on an intelligent input the joint team of forest officials and police nabbed the poacher from his house at around 2 am on Friday night. The poacher along with his other associates were planning to poach rhinos at the national park. The other members of the group could not be nabed, however the police is trying to trace their whereabouts. "During the interrogation the poacher confessed to possession of arms, which he had hidden somewhere. Police are trying to recover the arms. Meanwhile, a case has been registered against him under sections of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 for attempting to hunt wild animals at a national park," the park director added.
