India: One smuggler was arrested for possessing a rhino’s horn in a special operation that was executed by the 46th Batallion of S.S.B. and Gorumara North Range’s forest officials yesterday.

The arrested, Gaur Mallik(29), resides in Ghatpara of Sarugaon in Falakata. Mallik was accompanied by four other men before he was caught. The five were on motorcycles and were riding on NH 31, near the Luksan More of Nagarakata to smuggle the horn. 

The team of SSB’s soldiers and the forest officials followed the men and took Mallik and his vehicle in their custody. According to officials, the weight of the horn is around 1.5 kgs.

The other four men managed to escape from the site. Apart from the rhino horn, some foreign currency was also found in Mallik’s possession. He will be presented at court today.
