Smuggler Caught With Elephant Teeth In Falakata

India: A 45 years old smuggler named Rathindra Sarkar was caught by the 53rd Battalion of SSB and the Simulbari Forest Department for possessing elephant’s teeth from the Satpukur Sandabari area of Falakata.

Sarkar was nabbed during a special operation that had been planned based on inputs from secret sources. The soldiers and the forest officials had approached Sarkar posing as potential buyers. He was caught right after the undercover officials made a deal with him.

Madarihat Ranger Khadeshwar Karji and SSB’s commanding officer Arbind Kumar shared that they knew that Sarkar was possessing the elephant teeth illegitimately.

During interrogation, Sarkar confessed that he had come to Falakata from Assam five years ago. The elephant teeth had also been bought from Assam.

Khageshwar Karji said that Sarkar has been sent to court with a case of wildlife smuggling registered against him.
