India: Neyyardam police arrested four men in connection with slaughtering of a wild boar and attempted sale of its meat at Nalparamkuzhy near Neyyardam here on Monday. The police identified the accused as Shaji alias Thokku Shaji, a resident of Nalparamkuzhy, Aneesh alias Lalu, a resident of Maranalloor, Renjith and Vipin who reside at Thookkupara.
According to police, they had butchered the wild boar which had strayed into a rubber plantation at Nalparakuzhy. They consumed the meat and sliced the remaining portion and tried to sell it to locals. The police arrested them acting on a tip-off. Shaji and Aneesh were first held and Renjith and Vipin were arrested from hideouts.
The police said that Shaji and Aneesh are habitual offenders and are accused in various cases of assault and extortion. Aneesh is an accused in a murder case at Maranalloor.
They have been charged with sections 429 and 34 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Wild Life Protection Act 1972.
