Three Arrested with Tiger Trophies

Nepal: A team of Nepal Police deployed from Far West regional office has arrested three people on the charge of smuggling tiger hide and bones on Saturday, 28 February 2015 from Kanchanpur, Nepal. The suspects are identified as Khagda Bahadur Khadka aged 30 of Punarbas-8,  Ram Bahadur Rokaya aged 33 resident of Punarbas-10 Kanchanpur district, and Bans Rana, an Indian national. According to Sub-Inspector Birendra Johari, the coordinator of the investigation team of Nepal police, Bans Rana the Indian citizen had smuggled 9 feet long hide and 21 kilogram of tiger bones from Sampurnanagar India. Police said that other three suspects are in run. All the three suspects are sent to district forest office Kanchanpur for further investigation. The Police had also arrested two suspects on January 16 and 21 2015 with tiger trophies which indicates that Kanchanpur is developing as a hub for wildlife parts smuggling.  The suspects will be charged under the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act 1973.
