India: Thalavadi forest officials arrested a duo for killing a tiger and other wild animals by mixing poison in a pond in the forest area. Following frequent reports of killing of wild animals in Thalavadi forest limits, officials stepped up vigil in fores areas. During one such drive, the personnel spotted one Kumaranaik of Mukkanpalayam at Kumbarakundi near Thalavadi and held inquiries with him. Based on information given by him another man Bomman (40) also from Mukkanpalayam was arrested. The duo during interrogation admitted to having dumped poison mixed urea in the forest pond at Ettegoundarthotti in Mukkampalayam and some animals died after consuming the water. Both confessed that they also killed a tiger in a similar manner in February and smuggled its skin and nail into Karnataka. (Source : Indian Express)
