Tiger supplier cited for 3rd time in 6 months

Mitchel Kalmanson, tiger supplier for the UniverSoul Circus, has been cited by the USDA for the third time in less than 6 months, reported PETA today. The UniverSoul Circus doesn't have an exhibitor license, so it contracts with many animal exhibitors. Their tiger act is provided by Kalmanson. Kalmanson has a long history of violations while working with UniverSoul Circus, including a tiger who had a foot stuck under a sliding cage door, two tiger escapes, failure to provide veterinary care, failure to meet minimum space requirements for tigers, lions and chimps, failure to provide required exercise time and more. 'The latest violations came to light when PETA submitted an urgent request to the USDA for an inspection after learning that Kalmanson's tigers had reportedly been confined to cramped cages in transport trucks during 90-degree–plus heat without access to water in a mall parking lot,' explained PETA.
