Two arrested in Nainital with bear gall bladders

India: A team of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Nainital district police arrested two men with two gall bladders of the Himalayan Bear on Sunday.
Janmejay Khanduri, senior superintendent of police, Nainital district, said, “We had information about two men smuggling wild animal parts. The duo was arrested from Haldwani and a case has been registered against them under Sections 2, 9, 39, 49, 51, 52 of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.”
The accused, Deepak Singh Rawat, 32, and Ganesh Singh, 34, are residents of Munsiyari in Pithoragarh district. The two bladders weigh 210g and 122g.
Poachers usually poison female bears and their cubs to extract their gall bladders. The porous borders help poachers smuggle the body parts to international borders in Nepal and China.
