Nepal: A man was arrested with a skin and teeth of endangered clouded leopard from Gongabu on Monday. A police team from Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested Bhupesh Shahi, 27, of Jajarkot, who was found selling the animal parts in Gongabu area. CIB officials said they recovered a three feet long skin and four teeth of the leopard. The clouded leopard is listed as an endangered species in National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1973. The officials said they sent Shahi to District Forest Office in Kathmandu for further investigations and actions. As per the existing laws, people trading such animal parts will be slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 to Rs 100,000 and sentenced to five to fifteen years in jail.

Likewise, the Armed Police Force (APF) personnel arrested a 55-year-old man with a rhino horn from Bahuaripidari in Parsa on Monday. Chhotelal Sah, a permanent resident of Bahuaripadari-8, was held with the rhino horn, police said. The security personnel from the APF Industrial Security Battalion in Parawanipur detained Sah while he was walking along the road on the bank of Gandak canal. He was hiding the horn in a bag.
