Two held with leopard hide‚ red sandalwood

KATHMANDU: Police arrested two persons with various body parts of the endangered wild animal and red sandalwood yesterday evening.
The arrestees are Dipesh Shumsher Rana (33) of Birgunj-16 and Kalpana Paudel (32) of Biratnagar-10, who are currently residing at Tinthana in the Capital.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team dispatched from Metropolitan Police Circle, Thankot arrested the duo with three Chittal hides and six logs of red sandalwood from their rented room.
Police said that they are looking into the case.
According to National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1973, anyone found with trading in endangered species faces a fine of up to Rs 100,000 and a jail term of 5-15 years.
