Two held with leopard skin in Kanchanpur

Nepal: Two persons were arrested with leopard skin from Krishnapur Municipalit-2 of Kanchanpur district on Wednesday. The seized skin is nearly six-feet long and two-feet wide.

Acting on a tip-off, an investigation team from Far Western Regional Police Office arrested the smugglers with the skin of a young leopard. Prabin Chaudhary and Ramesh Rana, residents of Dekhat Bhuli of Kanchanpur, were held with the skin when they were riding past the Machheli bridge. They were

The arrestee said that they were unaware about the ownership of the skin, adding that received Rs 10,000 for transporting it. They further said that the skin was sold for Rs 30,000.

Police made public the incident at a press meet on Thursday. “It seems that the leopard was killed in the conservation area of Nepal,” said a member of the investigation team. “We are looking into it and the truth will be found very soon.”

District Police Office SP Tulsi Adhkari said the arrested men will be charged with illegal wildlife trading.
