India: Sleuths of the Forest Cell of the State Criminal Investigations Department, on Thursday, apprehended two men in Belagavi district in possession of seven elephant tusks. The poachers are suspected to have procured the tusks from Khanapur forest.
The suspects are Santhosh Gaikwad (23), a petty shop owner, and Suraj Madurakara (25), a duplicate keymaker. They are from Gokak in Belagavi district.
The Forest Cell team found the tusks in Saundatti town. The duo have been remanded in judicial custody.
