Two poachers held with pigeons

India: A large number of labourers working in under-construction solar and wind mills in many areas of Jaisalmer are poaching chinkaras and rare birds.
Following the incidents, villagers have become alert. People late on Saturday night caught two poachers from Malda town in West Bengal for poaching rare pigeons and handed them over to police. Police recovered 12 poached pigeons, a country-made pistol and two live pigeons. Police have handed over these poachers to the forest department where they are being questioned.
Wildlife enthusiast Radheyshyam Pemani said that at present Pokaran and Fatehgarh areas in the district many solar power projects are being set up. Labourers working here are poaching chinkaras and rare birds. The forest department was informed about this many times but as the department does not patrol on time due to which morale of poachers is high. Looking at it the villagers have become active to protect the wildlife.
