Authorities have seized three wild animal trophies from the house of Venkattram Reddy, chairman of Deccan Chronicle Holdings Limited, a famous newspaper publishing company in India. The animals were found during a house search by a CBI team who informed the Banjara Hills police.
The two deer and one bison heads were later seized by forest department officials. According to a district forest officer, the trophies appear to be at least 40 years old and a case against the owner can only be opened if the animals were obtained less than 5 years ago. If Venkattram Reddy can prove that he has had the animals since before 2008, a license would be issued and the animals will be returned to him, if not a case will be opened under the Wildlife Protection Act.
