SARLAHI: Two persons including a child lost their lives after a wild elephant attacked them in their village in the district on Sunday.
According to the police, Upendra Mahato (30) and three-year-old Giriya Mahato, daughter of Mathuni Mahato, were killed when the tusker entered Haripur-1, Jeetpur and attacked them at around 3 am this morning.
It is learnt that the elephant attacked Upendra while he was irrigating his field, and trampled Giriya to death while she was sleeping at her house.
Giriya’s twin sister Siriya broke her leg in the incident.
The bodies are being brought to Malangwa, the district headquarters for postmortem, police said.
Earlier on Thursday, an elderly was killed in an elephant attack in the district.
