Wildlife Smugglers arrested from Kathmandu

Nepal: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police today arrested wildlife smugglers with live birds, chimpanzees and monkeys from Bansbari, Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Nepal. Acting on a tip-off  regarding smuggling of wildlife species from Nigeria to Nepal and possibility of transporting these to India, a sleuth of CIB raided a house in KMC-3 and rescued two chimpanzees, eight monkeys, seven golden pigeon, two ringnet pigeons, 38 pigeons and 65 parrots.

The arrestees  are Sanjiv Vari (40), the landlord, Rajkumar Tiwari (42) from Kapan, Kathmandu, Mohammad Usman (34) from Bihar, India  (Citizenship No.2560/09),  Mohammad Fahim (54) from Bihar, India,  Chandbabu Mohammad Sharif  Sahid (54) from Uttar Pradesh, India (Passport No.L 5182450), and Jabed Aslam Khan (55) from Pakistan (Passport No. ZD 4106252).

CIB handed over them to the Kathmandu District Forest Office for further investigation and legal action.  All Live birds, chimpanzees and monkeys were sent to the Central zoo, Jawalkhel, Lalitpur for care.
